Rare Gem among Metaphysical Books

A metaphysical expose on such politically explosive topics as the spiritual significance of races and world religions, Illuminating Physical Experience by Foley, Shaffer and Davidsson may have been too far ahead of its time when it was originally published in 1999. I believe it’s a book whose time has finally come.

Illuminating Physical Experience delicately covers a wide range of sensitive topics [mostly] without offending. Each world religion is analyzed for its spiritual strengths and weaknesses; an analysis that leaves an objective reader feeling that no one religion is overly judged or elevated but each receives its fair share of praise as well as criticism.

A similar analysis is done of the five human races: red, yellow, brown, black and white. Again, spiritual and karmic strengths and weaknesses are presented - a topic even more politically incorrect than critiquing religions. But again, it’s accomplished with a sense of non-judgment that fails to offend.

Perhaps not surprising, the white race gets the harshest evaluation. But even this feels more self-reproaching than racist, due to the fact that the three authors themselves are white.

One third of the book is devoted to body symbology in a fashion both reminiscent of and yet distinctly different from Louise Hay. In 1984, Louise Hay revolutionized body-mind medicine with her outlining of the mental component of various illnesses. Illuminating Physical Experience goes more into the spiritual and emotional causes, although mental judgments as causative are also addressed.

Paraphrasing the book: Diseases are caused by emotional blockages. The reason why the emotions are blocked are mental judgments. And there is always some physical mechanism through which the disease manifests, such as a bacteria or virus, injury or auto-immune response, although the mechanism is never the real cause.

Many additional fascinating topics are covered in Illuminating Physical Experience, some of which are as potentially sensitive as the chapter on race and religion, e.g. miscarriages and abortions, homosexuality, and why our children kill. [Illuminating Physical Experience was published only a few months after the Columbine shooting in 1999.]

Other less “dangerous” but none-the-less fascinating topics covered include: Emotional ownership; soul fragmentation; releasing vows and hexes; psychic cording; Atlantis and Lemuria and much more. In Appendix II is an extensive list encompassing 20 healing modalities to help facilitate spiritual and emotional growth.

To conclude, Illuminating Physical Experience provides a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on an impressive array of spiritual topics. Unique and inspiring, it’s a must read for any serious metaphysician.

Rare Metaphysical Gem of a Book

A metaphysical expose on such politically explosive topics as the spiritual significance of races and world religions, Illuminating Physical Experience by Foley, Shaffer and Davidsson may have been too far ahead of its time when it was originally published in 1999. I believe it’s a book whose time has finally come.

The book pulls off the difficult task of dealing with many sensitive topics in a [mostly] inoffensive way. As an example, each of the major world religions is picked apart and analyzed from a detached spiritual perspective in terms of the strengths and weaknesses of its teachings. The analysis feels sufficiently objective so as to stimulate the reader to reflect on the subject without feeling aggravated.

The five races of mankind - black, white, brown, yellow and red - are likewise looked at from the perspective of their [karmic] strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps even more politically explosive than analyzing world religions, this look at the differences between human races is delicately accomplished without leaving the reader with any bad aftertaste.

It may come as no surprise that the race receiving the harshest evaluation is the white race, which comes off as feeling acceptable due to the fact that the three authors themselves belong to that race. It feels more self-reproaching than racist.

A full one third of the book is dedicated to body symbology. Reminiscent of the Louise Hay material, the body symbology as presented in Illuminating Physical Experience is distinctly more focused on the spiritual and emotional aspects, whereas Louise Hay in 1984 gave a detailed outline of the mental components of various disease processes.

In paraphrasing the book, there is always a physical mechanism behind every disease, such as pathogens, auto-immunity, or congenital birth defect. But the true cause is always blocked emotions, and the reason for the emotions being blocked is always some judgment on a mental or spiritual level.

Illuminating Physical Experience also covers a wide array of other fascinating topics, many of which are also politically incorrect, for example: Homosexuality, transsexuals and transvestites; abortions and miscarriages; and why children kill. [The book came out only months after the Columbine High School massacre.]

Other exciting topics covered from a new and unique perspective include: Atlantis and Lemuria; soul fragmentation; psychic cording; releasing vows and hexes; emotional ownership, and much more. Appendix II is extensive and lists 20 alternative healing modalities, and how they can help with spiritual and emotional growth and development.

Overall, this book introduces fresh new perspectives on a vast number of topics, with insights that often are as unique as they are provocative and inspiring. It’s a must read for any serious student of metaphysics.

Throat Chakra Communication Inside and Out

Our physical body is supported by an energy body. While we have organs that act as important centers of the human body, our energy body has chakras. Today we will talk primarily of the throat chakra and the role it plays in our life.

Chakras, just like organs, each serve a specific role. The word chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning wheel. The throat chakra focuses on our ability to communicate.

Communication is often thought of as an exchange between two people. Much of our communication focuses on our use of words. There are many forms of communication that combine the use of words with gestures and symbols, such as sign language.

Looking beyond words we use more than the symbols of words to get across our message. There is the look in our eyes, the way we move physically, and the tilt of our mouth. We use tone and volume, even silence.

Just the same as we use our entire body to speak for us, the throat chakra acts as a conduit for other aspects of the chakra system. When we communicate we bring in our thoughts, views, feelings, and beliefs that when combined give life to our words.

The throat chakra is not solely focused on our outward communication. There is an internal flow as well known as the inner voice. Our inner voice may be seen as the personal connection we have for all aspects of ourselves, ranging from our worldly presence that walks one step at a time to the spiritual presence that connects us to the all-that-is.

Telepathy is another type of communication that we process through the throat chakra. Telepathy is simply communicating energetically without using the body as a tool. We all use this form of communication, but since our normal worldly teachings do not include acknowledging these subtle forms of communication many of us never give ourselves credit for using this ability.

As you can see, there is really no mystery to the throat chakra. Our energy body serves us in the physical, helping us to experience and express ourselves. Understanding more about chakras and our energy bodies can give you greater understanding of yourself. Awareness brings us closer to ourselves, giving us more power in healing ourselves.

The Inner and Outer Aspects of the Throat Chakra

Our physical body is supported by an energy body. While we have organs that act as important centers of the human body, our energy body has chakras. Today we will talk primarily of the throat chakra and the role it plays in our life.

This word, chakra, comes from an ancient language known as Sanskrit. It means wheel, which is the perception seen when viewing these energy centers clairvoyantly. Each of the seven primary chakras serves us in a certain aspect of our life. The throat chakra is our communication chakra.

When we speak of communication our first thought is of an exchange of words between two people. Communications are not restricted to words alone. We have sign language, using symbols and gestures to make a point.

We also communicate through our eyes, our smile, and the way we move our body. Our tone changes, the volume of our voice influences the message given, as does the emphasis on certain words.

The communication chakra does not work alone, but serves as the passageway for the many other chakras or spiritual centers in the body. When we use our communication skills we combine body mind and spirit through our ideas, feelings, belief system, and perceptions.

There is another aspect of the throat chakra that is called the inner voice. This ability connects us body, mind and spirit. Our inner voice is the conduit to connect to our own emotions, feelings, perceptions, knowledge and our higher spiritual powers.

Telepathy is another type of communication that we process through the throat chakra. Telepathy is simply communicating energetically without using the body as a tool. We all use this form of communication, but since our normal worldly teachings do not include acknowledging these subtle forms of communication many of us never give ourselves credit for using this ability.

The chakra system holds no mystery, for each chakra is directly related to an aspect of our physical expression of self. Learning more about your energy system can enhance your life, for having more understanding of the chakra system will bring you to greater understanding of yourself. Since the energy body serves the physical, healing the chakra usually translates to healing the body.

The throat chakra is not solely focused on our outward communication. There is an internal flow as well known as the inner voice. This basic overview gives you a greater awareness of the throat chakra and how this chakra helps us in our ability to communicate with others. Combining awareness and intent we can more easily heal ourselves, and strengthen our ability to express ourselves in this world.

Healing With Spiritual Energies

Medical treatments have saved billions of lives over the centuries and there is no reason to shut your doors from them, but because of such reliance, you may often forget that there are natural and spiritual ways to heal too.

When something bad happens at home, you can not just brush it off when you go to work especially when it seems to be too big a deal. What happens when you go to work is that you still think about what happened earlier that day, think about the emotions you felt and you practically feel them again no matter how hard people around you push you to feel otherwise. People have the ability to think of feelings and be actually affected by what they have thought about. There is still debate on what affects first, but that’s another story. The point is everything can be connected to another in this world because each has a way to affect the other.

This is the point what Eastern healing philosophies have protected ever since they were established and this is what their followers from across generations and places believe in. In Chinese acupuncture for example, one area of the body when pricked by a healing needle is believed to cure an ailment inside the body. This too is what Reiki, a Japanese healing therapy delivers. However needles are not used here, what followers advocate is that when you start living a more content and rewarding lifestyle, the tendency is that you’d have more chances of being healthy, not just physically but spiritually as well. More than that, this therapy also attributes the well-being of a person, whether it be physical or spiritual, to the life forces that are within him or that are affect him from the outside. As the name suggests, life energies are carried by anything that has life. The thought of life energies can make people doubt about the effectiveness of reiki. This is understandable only because there seems to be no concrete way of describing these energies and they are something that can not be seen. However, they can be felt. Stress from things around you tires your body and encourages negative thoughts and emotions that in turn cause you to feel sick emotionally and drain you mentally. Therefore, many sicknesses which are remedied by prescription medicine can actually be attributed to life energies being hindered to flow freely within your system. What causes these hindrances are the many troubles one has in his life that gives him discontent, unhappiness and imbalance.

Healing in reiki is provided by reiki masters through massages. One might question, why bother looking for a master when there are massage therapists everywhere? What reiki masters experts are in is not the ordinary massage delivered in spas; palm healing is used so as to help the life energies flow in your body through healed pathways. After getting a massage, you are to exhibit a more relaxed and energized disposition. Reiki is one form of alternative medicine and is believed to be effective at healing your stressed body and spirit through reducing the negative energies that cause disease. However, like any alternative medicines it works as a complementary therapy which implies that prescribed medication is still of help. To further the healing process, people are also encouraged to practice meditation which has effects that are similar to what you get from a long vacation. Complete relaxation and calmness are achieved. There is peace in your thought, in your emotions and in your physical state. The only difference it has compared to a vacation is that you don’t have to go through the trouble of asking your boss for it.

Something Like Magic Reiki The Alternate Medicine

Reiki, which is a form of therapy originating from Japan, promotes the benefits of having a healthy life through tapping the flow of life energies. More than that, Reiki practices and encourages followers to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

With this kind of lifestyle there’s no wonder people come up with an array of diseases. But no matter what it is keeping you from functioning well, the world of medicine never stops looking for solutions. Pharmaceutical companies are growing this way, and I’d love to think that their goals are purely humanitarian. Moving on, if you feel sick, you pop a medicine in your mouth, and voila in time, you will be healed. You take some more and your healing is faster.

People want remedies fast precisely because everything in life should be fast-paced. This could be the reason why people have somehow closed the doors to the basics, contrary to what Eastern philosophies promote. For the followers of Reiki, people get sick because the flow of their life energies is blocked by the stress brought by their lifestyles. And so, to heal means to allow energy to flow freely with a special kind of massage.

The faster you heal the better, everything must happen fast. This is the primary reason why some have turned their backs from the basics which is embraced by the followers of Eastern healing philosophies like Reiki. Followers believe in the concept of balance as the key to having sound bodies and spirits. The reason why people acquire illnesses is because all the stress they face each day block the flow of their life energies, that which is essential in any living creature. And so in reiki therapies, a special kind of massage is used to open the pathways of energy within. More than that, though you can have a healthy body by having a balanced diet and free flowing life energy, there must also be a spiritual balance. This can be achieved through meditation. Reiki masters advocate the importance of cleansing your spirit by taking away negative thoughts and freeing yourself from things that only give off stress, chaos and fear in you. When you meditate, you not only achieve these things that lead to complete relaxation, but you also do your chakras a favor by letting them spin freely.

Reiki has its spiritual advantages but also is an effective alternative medicine through tenohira or palm healing. Although people who have experienced renewed vigor after reiki therapies, this is not the same as saying that sick people should fully depend on it for cure. It is an alternative form of medicine which means that sticking with what the professionals have prescribed is still important. What it offers however is an additional form of healing, which works not only for the physically suffering but for the spiritually burdened as well.
